Kansas State vs. West Virginia: Score Prediction
Kansas State’s path to the Big 12 Championship game is a simple one. Finish the last two games of the season with a victory and you'll be headed to Arlington to face TCU. First up is a trip to Morgantown to take on the 4-6 Mountaineers. Without further ado, let’s dive into Saturday’s matchup.
Preview
On the surface, this looks like a mismatch that heavily favors K-State. West Virginia has a struggling pass defense and the K-State offense with Will Howard at the helm has had a ton of success through the air. With little pass rush and a struggling secondary, West Virginia will likely struggle to keep K-State from passing up and down the field. Factor in Deuce Vaughn and the running game and it's tough to envision the Mountaineer's defense slowing down K-State.
On the other side of the ball, the Mountaineers have a quarterback controversy. JT Daniels was benched last week in favor of Garrett Greene. I would expect Greene to start, but it remains to be seen.
Overall, K-State is the more talented team. All that said, West Virginia, is a much better team when playing at home. Three out of their four wins came in Morgantown. Even so, as long as the Wildcats don’t look past the Mountaineers, this a game they should win.
Prediction: 35-24 K-State
West Virginia may hang around, but I think K-State eventually takes control and gets the win. The passing game should be able to roll and the running game should be productive as well. The question then becomes can Greene and West Virginia keep pace? I think not. K-State wins and gets one step closer to Arlington.
